Do you want to meet new people? Would you like to develop new interests, or help others to learn by sharing your knowledge, skills and experience with others?

Welcome to Cannock Chase u3a; here's what we are, what we do, where we are, and who we are
What we are:
The u3a is for people who want to keep active in mind & body, enjoy socialising and are no longer in full-time employment. Cannock Chase u3a (CCu3a) is part of the international University of the 3rd Age (u3a) movement which promotes and enables life-long learning.
The UK-wide Third Age Trust (TAT) supports over 1000 local u3as like CCu3a, who between them, have more than 430,000 members across the UK. The u3a (formerly the "university of the 3rd age") was set up 40 years ago for those who, whilst no longer in full time employment, still enjoy:
- Learning for its own sake and for fun, and
- Sharing their own skills and knowledge with others.
Nobody needs to stop learning just because they have stopped working
What we do:
SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS - We have a number of Groups which meet regularly. These are organised by CCu3a members themselves, and any member whose interest is not catered for is encouraged to start a new group. For further details of our current groups see the Groups page.
EVENTS - We also have monthly meetings for all with speakers, and a chance to chat over refreshments. A PA system is in use at these meetings to ensure that presentations are audible for all. On occasion, social events are also organised either in the village hall, in the grounds, or in local restaurants.
As well as the meetings mentioned above, we have organised outings to such as the Houses of Parliament, Jodrell Bank, Bletchley Park, the BBC, Amazon warehouse, river boat cruises etc. Future events will be advertised on the Events page.
JOINING US - If you are interested in joining us, browse through this website to get an idea of who we are and what we do. Then why not come along to our next monthly meeting? You will be made to feel most welcome. And if you see our exhibition stand in community centres, fairs or in supermarket foyers, come along and have a chat.
If you then decide to join, there is a £10 annual membership fee (£5 for associate members) and most group meetings are charged at £1 per session. See our Contact page for application forms, or to contact our membership secretary.
NEARBY u3as - If you are already a member of another u3a nearly - eg Burntwood, Lichfield, Walsall, Wolverhampton , Stafford , Stone or Uttoxeter - and are interested in any of our groups or events, you may be able to become an associate member where we have reciprocal agreements with your u3a. Sometimes we share speakers, collaborate in events, or participate in outings together. Likewise, our members too may also want to get involved with other u3as in the district. See the national u3a website to find other u3as around here.
THIS SITE - This website has two purposes:
- to inform prospective members about where we are, what we do and who we are; and
- to provide existing members of current news as well as a reference to find out about groups and their leaders, and forthcoming meetings, events and activities.
You can view the other pages by clicking or tapping on the tabs at the tops of each page, as well as the links embedded in the text.
